Oral surgery in Hutchinson, KS, can have a toll on your body, especially if you don’t properly recover. So, if you want the best results possible, and if you are interested in healing quickly, our Susan Evans DDS dental team strongly encourages you to use the following recovery tips:

-Take it easy for the first few days following the surgery. When lying down, make sure to prop your head up with pillows so you can limit the bleeding and swelling.

-Ice outside the treated area for 15 minutes at a time. This will help with swelling.

-Once the bleeding subsides, it’s best to stick to a soft-foods diet. We recommend eating foods like soups, yogurts, fruit, milkshakes, smoothies, and mashed potatoes.

-If you were given antibiotics, make sure you take them at the recommended times.

-Keep your mouth clean by rinsing with warm saltwater four times a day after the first 24 hours.

It is very important to take the healing period seriously. If you don’t, major negative consequences can occur. So, if you have any questions about these tips or if you need additional help, please feel free to call our office today at 620-663-5297. We also encourage you to schedule an appointment with your dentist, Dr. Susan Evans, if you’ve experienced any issues with the surgical site. We are here to help you in any way we can!
